Wet ‘n’ Wild Blue had Me at Hello Eyeshadow Palette Cost: 4.99 @ Walgreens
I stopped by Walgreens and had the chance to finally pick up this palette (used my 5.00 certificate from collecting 2000 points on my rewards card). I already own Comfort Zone and tossed out the purple palette (this one was complete crap in my opinion)
initial thought:
I've been a fan of Wet n Wild for quite a while now, and instantly fell in love ever since the Discontinued 6 eyeshadow palettes. I wanted the blues in this palette so that's why I picked it up. Wet n Wild has always been a hit or miss for me. Some colors come out smooth and buttery while others are just complete crap, as in they are too chalky or brick hard. I had high hopes on this palette as the swatches online appeared beautiful and pigmented.
Onto the swatches...
Comes with this crappy applicator
swatches:
top line is with primer
middle line is by itself
third line is swatched wet
Left Brow bone color:
This color to me was a piece of crap. I could barely get the dang thing to stick onto my brush. here's what it looks like after several attempts to use a brush for swatching. It was chunky and glittery and full of grossness. I sure as hell would not want to use this color on my brow bone...nor even use it on my eyelid.
here's what it looks like after my massive brush and finger attack for the swatch. It went from pretty to nasty.
Left Crease color:
Left Definer color:
(idk if it's just me...but the crease and definer swatched the same with the exception that the crease had a sheer blue tint to it which I wasn't able to photograph well) Right brow bone color:
I probably wouldn't use this color as a highlight...maybe an inner corner deal IF needed, it's color pay off is like a light sky bluish color.Right Eyelid color:
(look at the nasty stain I had after using it wet)
Right Crease color:
This is the blue I fell in love with...not sure how I will incorporate it into my eyeshadow, but when there's a will there's a way.Right Definer color:
This color was the worst out of the bunch! I literally did like 20 swatch attempts using my finger. The shadow itself was brick hard! I had to use my finger nail to scrape the top layer into a loose powder to be able to swatch it onto arm. I probably wouldn't touch this color again for the life of me.
Below is a photo of what I had to do to get some swatches.
eyeshadow palette has been harassed by me, here's what it looks like now.
It went from pretty to ugly looking, LOL. Oh well, as long as it's still usable.
Final thoughts:
I was uber excited about this palette, but after spending a LONG time swatching and taking photos, I fell out of love with this palette. Since I only adore a couple colors, It might be best for me to just depot those and add into a separate palette. Final verdict is...pick up if you want something affordable and with a variety of blues but keep in mind that every palette is a hit or miss on texture. (I got the sucky one, boo-hoo) oh well.
